1. Agreement

By using mossyrune (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may revise these Terms over time; the date above marks the most recent revision, and continued use after a revision means you accept it. We will not send individual notice for every change, so please re-read this page when it matters to you.

2. About the Service

mossyrune (“we,” “us”) is an educational site for exploring and practicing human languages. Some features — the Immerse game, Translate, Interpret, vocabulary helpers, and chat — send your input to a third-party AI model (Anthropic’s Claude; in some cases Google’s Gemini) and return the model’s reply. We call that reply “AI Output.” The Service is for personal study and entertainment, and is not designed to comply with sector-specific laws like HIPAA, FERPA, or any equivalent regulation in your country.

3. AI Output is not authoritative

AI Output is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, dated, or otherwise inappropriate. It is not advice — legal, medical, financial, psychological, certification, or otherwise. Always verify before acting on what a model says.

We do not pre-screen AI Output and we are not responsible for what a model says in response to your prompts. Translations, grammar explanations, and in-character NPC dialogue are study aids, not authoritative sources.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian to use the Service and its AI features; by using it you confirm you have that permission.

You also confirm that:

  • any account information you give us is honest and current;
  • you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms;
  • you will not use the Service through automated means (bots, scrapers, headless browser farms) other than the standard indexing of public pages by search engines; and
  • your use of the Service will not break any law that applies to you, or break the rules of our upstream AI providers — including the Anthropic Usage Policy, which covers your use of Claude-powered features here.

5. Accounts

You can use most of the Service without an account. If you sign in, the account is yours to look after — keep your credentials safe and tell us immediately if you suspect someone else got in. You can delete your account from the settings page; we remove your account-bound data on the schedule described in the Privacy Policy. We may reclaim or change a username we determine to be misleading, infringing, or impersonating someone else.

6. Payments, subscriptions, and refunds

Some parts of the Service — specifically the Immerse game — are paid; the rest of the Service (Reach, Grammar, Discover, Learn, Translate, articles) remains free. Paid access is sold either as a recurring subscription that grants a monthly allotment of credits and access to higher-quality voice synthesis, or as a one-time pack of credits.

Merchant of record. Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the seller and merchant of record for paid transactions. Paddle collects applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) and issues invoices. Your contract for payment is with Paddle; Paddle in turn pays mossyrune.

Subscriptions. Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly cycle at the price shown at checkout. Credits are added to your account at the start of each billing period, and up to half of any unused credits roll over to the next period (subject to a per-tier ceiling shown at checkout). You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the current period — you keep your access and credits through the end of it. One-time credit packs do not expire.

Refunds. If you cancel a new subscription within fourteen (14) days of the first charge and have not spent any credits from that subscription, you may request a full refund through Paddle. After fourteen days, or once any credits from that period have been spent, the current billing period is non-refundable. Unused credits from one-time packs may be refunded on a prorated basis within fourteen (14) days of purchase. Spent credits are not refundable. If you are an EU or UK consumer, your statutory right of withdrawal applies, but by starting a play — spending a credit — you expressly consent to the immediate supply of digital content and waive your right of withdrawal for that credit, as permitted by EU Directive 2011/83/EU and equivalent UK law.

Failed renewals. If a renewal payment fails, your subscription enters a seven (7) day grace period during which access continues while we retry. If payment still cannot be collected, the subscription is suspended and new credits are not issued; previously-purchased one-time credits remain on your account.

Price changes and disputes. We may change subscription prices for future billing periods with at least thirty (30) days’ notice by email; the in-progress period and existing credits are unaffected. Before initiating a chargeback with your bank, please email hello [at] mossyrune.com — we resolve nearly every billing question within a few business days.

7. What you may not do

You agree not to use the Service or its AI features to:

  • generate or distribute content that is illegal where you are or where we are, including anything that sexually exploits minors;
  • get instructions for serious physical harm — weapons (bio, chem, nuclear, radiological, cyberweapons), attacks on critical infrastructure, or comparable harm;
  • harass, threaten, defame, dox, or impersonate another person;
  • generate targeted political disinformation, fraudulent content, phishing lures, or malware;
  • jailbreak, prompt-inject, or otherwise bypass safety instructions on any AI model — through NPC dialogue, hidden text, or any other channel;
  • scrape, mirror, resell, redistribute, or repackage AI Output as a product, or use it to train a competing model;
  • systematically retrieve linguistic data, glossaries, or article copy to build a competing dataset or product;
  • bypass or interfere with rate limits, Turnstile challenges, or per-account quotas;
  • place undue load on the Service or our upstream providers;
  • decompile, disassemble, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service except where the law expressly allows it; or
  • submit prompts, files, or images you do not have the right to submit.

We may filter, slow, or block requests that look like they violate these rules, and we may suspend repeat offenders.

8. Your content

You own the notes, widgets, page ratings, and other text you submit through the Service (“Your Content”). When you submit it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and display it as needed to operate the Service. You are responsible for the rights to anything you submit. We may remove content that breaks the rules above; we are not under any obligation to monitor.

Feedback you send us — bug reports, suggestions, ideas — is something we may act on without owing you anything; you keep the underlying ideas, but you are not promised credit, compensation, or confidentiality.

9. Logging and data sent to third parties

When you use an AI feature, your input and the model’s reply are sent to the AI provider for processing and stored on our servers for operational and abuse-review purposes. The Privacy Policy describes how long we keep them and which providers receive what. We may review logs in response to abuse signals (rate anomalies, safety-classifier hits, user reports) and may share specific logs with an AI provider during a trust-and-safety investigation. Do not include in a prompt anything you would not want a human admin or a provider’s safety team to read.

10. Intellectual property

Linguistic data on the Service is used under the licenses listed on the Citations page. Our own code, design, copy, illustrations, and the mossyrune name and mark are ours or our licensors’. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-commercial license to access and use the Service for personal study; all other rights are reserved.

AI Output you generate is yours to use, subject to these Terms and to whatever the upstream AI provider’s terms say about ownership of model outputs.

If you believe content on the Service infringes a copyright or other right of yours, email hello [at] mossyrune.com with enough detail to identify the content and we will review.

11. Privacy

Use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you accept the data practices described there, including the processing of your data by hosting and AI providers located outside Mexico.

12. Changes and outages

We add, change, and remove features. We sometimes have outages. We may shut down a feature with little notice. We are not on the hook for downtime, errors, or the discontinuation of any feature.

13. Ending access

You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if an upstream provider requires it, or if we discontinue the Service. If we close your account for cause, please don’t register a replacement under a different name without asking us first.

14. No warranty

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service or AI Output will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or secure. Your reliance on the Service or AI Output is at your own risk.

15. Limit of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, mossyrune is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data, arising out of your use of the Service or your reliance on AI Output, even if we have been told such damage is possible.

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service is capped at whichever is greater: (a) the amount you have actually paid mossyrune in the twelve (12) months before the event that gave rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits. In those places, the limits apply only to the extent the law allows them.

16. Indemnity

If a third party comes after us because of (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the Service, (c) your breach of these Terms, (d) your misuse of AI features, or (e) your violation of any applicable law or third-party right, you agree to step in and cover the resulting costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

If you are a consumer with habitual residence in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose law grants you non-waivable consumer-protection rights, those rights apply in addition to these Terms.

18. Disputes

Before filing any claim, please write to us at hello [at] mossyrune.com (replace “[at]” with “@” when sending) and give us thirty (30) days to attempt informal resolution. Most issues can be resolved that way.

If informal resolution fails, claims must be brought in the competent courts of Mexico City, United Mexican States, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of those courts. Consumers may also bring proceedings in the courts of their habitual residence where applicable law allows. To the extent the law permits, claims are brought on an individual basis only — not as part of a class or representative proceeding.

19. Notices

Email and notices posted on the Service count as written communication between us. By using the Service you agree to receive notices, disclosures, and contractual communications electronically.

20. The rest

These Terms — together with the Privacy Policy — are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If a court strikes a clause, the rest stands. Us not enforcing something is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later. We may assign these Terms to a successor (for example, if mossyrune is later operated by a company); you may not assign your account to someone else without our permission. Nothing in these Terms makes us partners, joint venturers, or one another’s employer.

21. Contact

For anything about these Terms, email hello [at] mossyrune.com (replace “[at]” with “@” when sending; the address is written this way to deter spam). The Feedback button in the lower-right corner of the Service also works.
